Como era de esperarse, el cineasta mexicano Guillermo del Toro y su Frankenstein estarán muy presentes en la temporada de premios, y para muestra son las cinco nominaciones que ha conseguido en los Globos de Oro 2026.

En esta edición número 83 de los Globos de Oro, nuestro “Gordo” competirá en las categorías a Mejor Película, Mejor Director, Actor principal (Óscar Isaac), Actor secundario (Jacob Elordi) y Mejor Banda Sonora (Alexandre Desplat).

Cabe recordar que ésta será la cuarta vez que Del Toro forma parte de la competencia del Globo de Oro y que en 2023 ganó como Mejor Producción de Animación con Pinocho; en 2018 a Mejor Dirección por The Shape of Water; y en 2007 compitió como Mejor Película de habla no inglesa con El laberinto del fauno.

En esta ocasión, el cineasta mexicano comparte la terna a Mejor Director con Mejor Dirección en Película Chloé Zhao (Hamnet), Jafar Panahi (It Was Just an Accident); Joachim Trier (Sentimental Value); Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another) y Ryan Coogler (Sinners).

México también está representado por el actor Diego Luna, quien por su trabajo en Andor, está nominado como Mejor Actor de Drama en una serie de televisión, siendo ésta la segunda mención de su carrera en estos premios.

La película con mayor número de nominaciones es Una batalla tras otra, de Paul Thomas Anderson, con nueve candidaturas; le sigue Sentimental Value (Valor sentimental), del director Joachim Trier, con ocho nominaciones.

Otro dato interesante es que Netflix -que recientemente adquirió Warner- obtuvo un total de 35 nominaciones, impulsadas por títulos como Frankenstein, Jay Kelly, la serie Adolescencia y La Guerreras KPop; mientras que Warner Bros. acumuló 31 menciones.

La ceremonia de los Golden Globes que se llevará a cabo el próximo 11 de enero, incluirá nuevas categorías, entre ellas Mejor Podcast. Además, Helen Mirren recibirá el Premio Cecil B. DeMille, mientras que Sarah Jessica Parker será honrada con el Premio Carol Burnett.
